Ryo Fujii

French–Japanese Business Interpreter & Translator

Supporting French companies and Japanese media in Japan since 2012.

More than 2,800 assignments completed across business, media and technical environments.

Professional Profile

I am a French–Japanese interpreter and translator specializing in business communication between European companies and Japanese partners.

After spending much of my twenties in France, I returned to Japan and have been working in Tokyo as a French–Japanese business communication specialist.

Since 2012, I have completed more than 2,800 professional assignments, supporting executives from over 60 companies, mainly during their business activities in Japan.

My work focuses primarily on business interpretation, translation and logistical support for international companies operating in the Japanese market.

Before starting my career as an interpreter, I also worked for several years in Paris, including in a neighborhood café environment.

This experience allowed me to interact daily with people from many different backgrounds and helped me develop a practical understanding of French communication styles beyond academic language learning.

Working Languages

French — Japanese

English (professional use)

Professional Experience

Over the years, I have assisted companies in a wide variety of professional contexts, including:

  • business meetings and negotiations

  • factory visits and technical discussions

  • trade fairs and exhibitions

  • interpretation for television programs and media productions

  • translation of marketing and technical materials

Working Approach

Effective international communication involves more than simply translating words.

French communication tends to be direct and expressive, while Japanese professional communication often relies on nuance, context and non-verbal understanding.

My role is to help bridge these differences so that discussions remain clear, productive and comfortable for both sides.

By paying attention not only to language but also to the atmosphere of each situation, I aim to facilitate exchanges that lead to genuine mutual understanding.

Regional Perspective

Alongside my professional work in business communication, I also maintain a strong personal interest in the cultural landscapes of the Hakone and Tanzawa regions.

These areas — located between Tokyo and Mount Fuji — combine mountain landscapes, pilgrimage traditions and rural communities that have shaped the cultural history of the region.

A Personal Note

Outside of work, I enjoy playing football with friends or occasionally joining informal games.

On the field, language becomes secondary — the game itself creates an immediate connection.

That spirit of shared experience and communication beyond words is something I also value in my professional work.
